In a news release on Thursday, November 26th, the Georgia State Patrol revealed that two residents of Flowery Beach survived a fatal accident on McEver Road on Wednesday, November 25th.
The state patrol identified the survivors as Leonardo Cruz-Venegas, 28, and Dawson Ramsey Davis, 19. The investigators said Davis suffered severe injuries, while the wounds of Cruz-Venegas were non-life-threatening. The two received treatment at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Sophia Garcia, 19, however, succumbed to her injuries at the crash site. The GSP release showed that troopers responded to the accident scene north of Lake Run Drive around 8:50 p.m. and found that two vehicles collided.
The preliminary investigation uncovered that a Toyota Corolla operated by Cruz-Venegas was traveling northbound when it crossed over the roadway center and collided head-on with the Volkswagen Jetta driven by Garcia. The GSP said the investigation into the fatal accident on McEver Road is ongoing, and there are no charges at this time.
