A 24-year-old man died after the van he was driving crashed into a tractor-trailer truck. The tragic South Cobb Drive crash occurred at the I-285 exit and entrance ramps on the night of Wednesday, November 11, 2020, the Cobb Police reported.
Investigations revealed the collision occurred at 9:31 pm. The victim, Angel S. Gomez, of Marietta, was driving a white 2005 Ford Econoline van. He hit the rear of a 53-foot semi-trailer attached to a red 2011 Kenworth t660 truck. A 48-year-old man, Ashraf Omar, of Stockbridge, was driving the semi-trailer.
Following the South Cobb Drive crash, Gomez suffered fatal injuries and died at the crash scene. Meanwhile, Omar did not sustain any injuries. Authorities are still investigating the crash and request anyone with information to contact investigators at 770-499-3987.
