Motorcycle accidents are some of the most dangerous types of motor vehicle accidents. There’s nothing there to protect the rider other than a plastic helmet. These crashes often lead to very serious injuries and even death. Sadly, this was the case in a motorcycle crash in Albany, Georgia this week.
At around 3:30 pm on Thursday, April 30, a man was driving his motorcycle North on Nottingham Way in Albany. As he approached the intersection of Nottingham Way and North Westover Boulevard, another vehicle was coming from the opposite direction.
This other driver, whose name has not been released, was traveling South on Nottingham when he failed to yield while making a left-hand turn. Just as he was doing this, Frost was approaching the intersection. He ended up hitting the back of the man’s Nissan Sentra.
The driver of the Sentra was not hurt at all in the crash. Unfortunately, the man driving the motorcycle, Eddie Frost, was seriously injured in the crash. Frost was a 34-year old man from Albany, Georgia. He was taken to Phoebe Emergency Center but died from his injuries shortly after arriving.
The police are continuing to investigate the crash. They have not indicated if any charges will be filed against the man who was driving the Nissan Sentra. His name has not been given as of yet. Given that he failed to yield, at a minimum he’ll receive a citation.
The investigator who arrived at the accident scene personally notified the family of the victim, Eddie Frost. He is also leading the investigation into the accident. The victim’s family will more than likely have a possible wrongful death claim against the driver of the Sentra.
