One month after a Cobb County motorcycle accident claimed the life of one, the police took the driver involved into custody. Richard Lee Cohen was arrested on Saturday, November 28th, for the crash involving his U-Haul van and a motorcycle.
Cobb County police charged the man with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield. The crash, which happened on October 26th, killed Kwadro Oppong Peprah, 24, of Powder Springs.
The accident report released at the time placed the victim on a 2007 Honda VT750 motorcycle eastbound on New Macland Road a little before 6 p.m. Cohen was behind the wheel of a 2019 Ford Econoline box van attempting to make a left turn on the road.
The report disclosed that the defendant turned into Peprah’s path, and the motorcycle collided with the back of the U-Haul. The victim suffered severe injuries and passed away, while Cohen was uninjured.
The police booked the defendant into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center but released him hours later on a $5,720 bail bond. There is no additional information about the CObb County motorcycle accident at this time.
Under Georgia law, a driver will be liable for a failure to yield offense if they fail to follow the traffic laws by running yellow or red blinking lights without looking.
