The Savannah Police Department, Traffic Investigation Unit, said in a press release that one person died in a two-vehicle collision on Truman Parkway. The accident happened on Thursday, October 28th. Failure to maintain a lane appears to have caused the accident.
The press release disclosed that officers with the SPD responded at the crash site on northbound Truman Parkway near Montgomery Cross Road around noon. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Pathfinder was southbound when it entered the grass median. The vehicle rotated and entered the northbound lane.
After entering the northbound lanes, the Pathfinder was struck on the passenger side by a black BMW X5. The impact sent the Pathfinder rolling into the guardrail. The driver died at the scene of the crash as a result of the injuries from the collision. The SPD will release his identity pending notification of next-of-kin.
The BMW driver sustained non-severe injuries. The police said adverse road conditions also contributed to the two-vehicle collision on Truman Parkway. The crash remains under investigation by the TIU.
