With the COVID-19 pandemic plaguing the nation, almost everyone is under a stay at home mandate. This means there aren’t nearly as many people on the road as we’re used to. This is especially true for a Sunday morning at 8:30. Sadly, this didn’t make much of a difference for two family members who were involved in an accident in Statesboro, Georgia.
At about 8:30 am on Sunday, April 26, a 74-year old woman was entering Veterans Memorial Parkway in Statesboro. Despite the fact that the roads were quite empty, she managed to enter the highway directly in the path of a pickup truck.
At the time of the crash, 74-year old Elizabeth Sneed had two other people in the car with her. One of the passengers was 29-year old Anthony Sneed. There was a second passenger in the car as well. While the police didn’t state the exact relationship between the driver and Anthony Sneed, it’s fair to presume that they were related.
All three occupants of Sneed’s car were seriously injured in the crash. Elizabeth Sneed’s injuries were so bad, she passed away at the scene and was pronounced dead. The same is true of her passenger – Anthony Sneed. The second passenger, whose name has not yet been released, was airlifted to a hospital in Savannah. There is no update on his condition.
At this time, the police haven’t released the name of the person driving the pickup truck. There was also no mention of his injuries. It appears that the Sneed was the person at fault for the crash. The passenger injured in the crash may have a potential claim against the driver’s insurance company.
