One person died in a fiery car accident in Atlanta, Georgia. The collision happened during the early hours of New Year’s Day, January 1st. The cause of the crash is not known at the time of this report.
The vehicle driver involved in the crash died, while a passenger trapped in the burning car had to be extricated. The incident happened on the on-ramp leading from Ga. 400 to Interstate 85 South. When the Atlanta Police Department officers got to the scene, they found a Toyota Scion engulfed in flames.
The police said the driver was already dead when they arrived and did not release their name. The preliminary inquiry showed that the Toyota struck a concrete barrier wall as it traveled on the on-ramp. It was merging onto Interstate 85 South. The collision made the car flip and it went up in flames.
The APD credited employees from Central EMS, a Roswell ambulance service, with the rescue of the passenger. They conveyed the passenger who remains unidentified to a hospital in stable condition.
