A man riding a wheelchair lost his life following a traffic collision in Cobb County. The accident occurred during the early hours of Monday, August 2nd. The cause of the accident is unknown at the time of this report.
The collision in Cobb County happened at about 1:44 a.m. on Dallas Highway east of Barrett Parkway in the West Cobb area. The preliminary investigation by the Cobb Police revealed that the 56-year-old man rode a wheelchair in the left eastbound lane of Dallas Highway. He was approximately 200 feet east of the crosswalk at Barrett Parkway.
Simultaneously, a silver 2017 Ford Fusion was eastbound on Barrett Parkway. The vehicle then collided with the wheelchair the man was sitting in. The police identified the victim as Jesse T. Thompson, an Acworth resident; he died at the accident scene. The Ford driver, 46-year-old Yusuf Mohammed of Dallas, was uninjured. The investigation is ongoing.
