Allison Taylor Newell was born and raised in Winston, Georgia, approximately 45 minutes west of Atlanta. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of West Georgia in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Later that year, Allison attended Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School and ultimately graduated with her Juris Doctor in May of 2019. During her tenure in law school, Allison worked for the Douglas County District Attorney’s office and Douglas County State Court as a law clerk for Chief Judge Eddie Barker and Judge Brian Fortner opining on civil motions, drafting orders and conducting legal research.
After graduation, Allison worked briefly as a legal research aid with the Georgia Senate Research Office at the Georgia Capitol where she routinely drafted synopses of proposed legislation, attended committee hearings, and conducted various research on topics ranging from legalizing sports betting, creation of the Commission on African American History and Culture, expansion of the Farm Bill regarding hemp production, various tort reform proposals including sovereign immunity of state and local officials, and designation of the pecan as the official state nut for Georgia’s elected officials.
Allison joined W. Calvin Smith II, P.C. as an associate attorney focusing primarily on personal injury and workers’ compensation claims. Having taken several cases successfully from inception to trial, Allison is an experienced litigator with a passion for helping her clients navigate litigation in the pursuit of justice. When not advocating, Allison spends her time outdoors hiking, camping, and fishing the beautiful terrain of the North Georgia Mountains.
