Melissa Nichols was born in Lexington, Kentucky. She attended the University of Kentucky where she double majored in broadcast journalism and political science and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Telecommunications. She then attended Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law where she received her juris doctor. While in law school, she studied abroad with the Villanova School of Law in Rome, Italy. She also clerked for the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy, Appeals Division. While there, she learned and experienced first-hand the type of hardships that indigent clients face and has since developed a personal interest in providing effective legal assistance to those who cannot afford legal representation and those in need.
Prior to joining W. Calvin Smith II, P.C, Ms. Nichols practiced in the area of workers’ compensation with another Atlanta law firm. She is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia and State Bar of Kentucky and admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Georgia. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
