Johnisha Sterling was born in South Carolina and raised in Georgia since the age of 11. In 2010, she graduated from Columbus State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. After taking a few years off to work, Johnisha attended Northern Illinois University College of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor degree.
While in law school, Johnisha worked at the Zeke Giorgi Clinic where she represented clients in civil law cases involving elder and family law matters. She also worked at the NIU Medical-Legal Clinic where she advocated on behalf of clients seeking social security benefits. Upon graduating, she received two awards for her commitment to public interest law: the Marla Dickerson Award and Outstanding Clinical Student Award. In addition, she received a certificate of recognition for completing over 60 hours of pro bono services.
After completing law school, Johnisha worked as a document review attorney before joining W. Calvin Smith, II, P.C. as an associate, specializing in personal injury and worker’s compensation. She is an active member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia who continues her commitment to public service by volunteering with the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation. In her spare time, Johnisha enjoys stand-up comedy shows, traveling, reading and spending quality time with family and friends.
