Alexander D. Northover’s law practice is dedicated to representing injured Georgians in personal injury and worker’s compensation claims, pre-suit, at trial, and on appeal. Mr. Northover’s attention to detail and his creative style makes him a fierce and zealous advocate for his clients. Mr. Northover has a deep passion for fighting for “the underdog” and holding powerful corporations and insurance companies accountable.

Mr. Northover was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up in a blue collar household, Mr. Northover learned the value of honesty and hard work. Mr. Northover is the first of his family to graduate college, let alone law school. Mr. Northover graduated suma cum laude from The George Washington University in Washington D.C. with a degree in both Political Science and Philosophy and a minor in Sociocultural Anthropology. Mr. Northover then went on to attend Emory University School of Law, graduating with honors. While in law school, Mr. Northover served as President of a student organization and served as Articles Editor on the prestigious Emory Law Journal. In 2016, Mr. Northover published his article, “Enough and as Good” in the Intellectual Commons: A Lockean Theory of Copyright and the Merger Doctrine in Vol. 65 of Emory Law Journal (available at http://law.emory.edu/elj/_documents/volumes/65/5/northover.pdf). Since its publication, the article has received significant acclaim and has been cited by the Vermont Law Review, Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Journal, and the National Taipei University of Technology Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Management and has been included in Penn State University’s John Locke Bibliography.

During his time at Emory Law, Mr. Northover proudly served as law clerk for Hon. Wendy Shoob (retired) in the Superior Court of Fulton County and Hon. Christopher Edwards in the Superior Courts of the Griffin Judicial Circuit. Also, Mr. Northover worked in a boutique personal injury firm in Atlanta and served as a law clerk for the Vice President of Legal Affairs for Fox News.

Since joining The Law Office of W. Calvin Smith as an associate, Mr. Northover has won multiple trials and has secured millions of dollars for his clients. He received the Avvo Client Choice Award in 2017 and 2018 and the Martindale –Hubbell Client Champion Award in 2019. In 2019, Mr. Northover was recognized as a Top 40 Under 40 attorney in Personal Injury Law in Georgia, a designation reserved for the top 1% attorneys in this state and practice area. Mr. Northover is a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, and a member on good standing of the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to practice before all State, Superior, and Magistrate Courts of Georgia as well as the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
