The man who drove his vehicle into police cars at a Bartow County crash scene faces criminal charges. On Wednesday, April 21st, a news release disclosed the suspect is in the Bartow County Detention Center. The man faces charges of aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, and other felonies, and misdemeanors.
The police took 36-year-old Paris Deshun Scott of Cartersville into custody on Monday night, April 19th. The release revealed that the man drove through and rammed into an accident scene on Joe Frank Harris Parkway. The earlier Bartow County crash killed Shirbert Stubbs of Rome.
Police records showed that the Georgia State Patrol troopers and Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputies were investigating the crash when Scott’s Chrysler 300 sped into the stopped traffic. The suspect drove past the patrol car on the emergency vehicle reserved lane. Two sheriff deputies stopped the man 200 feet from the accident site.
But when one of the deputies walked to their patrol car, Scott reportedly accelerated to the accident scene. He nearly struck two officers and destroyed multiple pieces of evidence. He fled in his vehicle, and officers chased him.
The officers caught the man after he wrecked the Chrysler on Mac Johnson Road. They arrested him, and he also faces obstruction of law-enforcement officers. They set his bail bond at $25,000, and he remained in custody as of Wednesday.
